Summer Giveaway Hop: Stop 261

Welcome to the Summer Giveaway Hop hosted by Kathy at I Am A Reader, Not A Writer and Bookhounds.

I'm giving away a paperback copy of Shadowspell (Faeriewalker #2) by Jenna Black. US only!  One winner will be chosen randomly just after August 7th using random.org.

I thought this book was a bit too hot and heavy and light on story, but it wasn't a horrible read.  Here is my review.

To enter you must to do two things.  Fill out the form below, so I can contact the winner, and then answer the following question in the comment section.

What drives you most to read books with Faerie involved?

  1. What drives me to read books about fairy is the fact that I love the different ways that they are represented by different cultures or even just different authors. Faeries are without a doubt my favorite supernatural creature. :]

  2. A good blurb gets me to read a book with fairies. I don't necessarily care what the main character is as long as the story sounds interesting.

  4. I guess faeries don't really draw me toward or away a book, but I think well done faeries can really make a book fascinating.

  5. Faerie has always been my favourite "supernatural" topic, if I have to qualify it. They represent humanity without inhibitions but with a skewed sense of morality, which always makes for an interesting read.

I like books with Faeries because like all fantasy books, they have fun characters with unusual characteristics (even though in every book the universe is different...)

  8. I have always loved the books with fairies as the characters. Maybe it's the magical element that surrounds them.

Well, seriously... I haven't read too much books about faeries so I saw them exotic and attractive... And I try not to think about Tinkerbell... I don't like Tinkerbell too much...

    Thank you for the giveaway!

  11. When I think of faeries I think of how they look so beautiful but can also have a darker wicked side to them. There not always as innocent as they seem... it makes for a very interesting read.

  12. Yay giveaways!

My answer: I think, because I've never felt fully human I've been attracted to books about Faerie and all of the creatures in it. I always felt closer to those creatures than I did to humans. I still kind of do. :)

I like fantasy and if I think it's a good plot then I want to read it, it's less that the Fae are part of the book and more that the book looks interesting.

  14. What drives me to read with Faerie?
Have yet to read one, but what attracts me to them is the fantasy world that they live in, and the magic that they have. :)

  21. What drives you most to read books with Faerie involved?

Well, I think it's the beauty of their world and the creatures themselves. I think Holly Black's Tithe was the first time I read about this world :)

  22. I think Faeries are the most interesting to read because I don't know anything about them! Faeries and witches also seem like the most complex characters out there and their power spectrums are HUGE so you never know what the faeries you read about can do. They are beautiful creatures!

  26. I love fairies so I tend to read about them alot. Fairies cover my home and gardens. Statues, my daughter's dolls, my christmas ornaments.... they are everywhere. I guess I like the magic of fairy lore.

  27. What drives me most? To see if the author can come up with a more interesting storyline than the last one I read about faeries. It amazes me at the variety and depth of character/world building that authors devise.

  28. What drives me to read a book with fairies on it is the fact that a lot of books keeps on saying that they're beautiful and charming, I wanted to read a book that says they're not.

  29. I'm a new follower as Tanyaw1224 =) I do love faeries. All kinds. I think it's just because of that beautiful image I picture. Like they're perfect and not dead like vampires ;) I read some where they're different colors but I still am attracted to them. Laurel K. Hamilton does a great adult series with the fey called The Merrideth Gentry series. Very good. Thanks for the chance to win your book.

  30. What drives me to read about faerie? I think it stems from childhood when your mind is open to the fantastic and your imagination is free. I like the escapism of the fantasy elements-they have different powers and strengths. In some of the books they have strong queen figures and interesting realms. Great giveaway-thank you!

  31. I'm not sure I am "driven" to read faerie books, I am just driven to read a good book, faerie or not. I think in general we are drawn to faerie tales because they tend to be what we spent our childhood reading about and dreaming about. It sparks our imagination.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  32. Thanks for the great giveaway!
I love faerie books for a lot off reasons, but the biggest is probably because my little cousin loves them and it gives me something to connect with her on. Plus, I finally have her reading, and she likes my suggestions for books for the first time. I am tickled to share faeie's with her.

  35. Its more that Fae books tend to find me. The beautiful covers calls to me. Or the storyline makes it impossible for me to pass up that book. I just enjoy reading abotu the Fae.

  36. I am more inclined to read a faerie book when people spell it "faerie," not "fairy," and if the cover doesn't look like trashy flea market art. :)

    Thanks for the giveaway!
